Thick hair curls drop for three reasons: hair that was still a little wet, sections that were too big, or unwrapping too soon. Here's how to fix each one.
1. Start dry or slightly misted
Thick hair holds water. Make sure your hair is fully dry, then mist lightly as you wrap. Never wrap soaking-wet hair.
2. Use the criss-cross wrap with small sections
Loose inner layers are the top reason thick hair drops. The criss-cross wrap fixes this: take small sections and alternate crossing each one over the band, left and right, so every section is secured.
The criss-cross wrap: our recommended method for thick hair
The criss-cross wrap is the best way to wrap thick hair. Crossing each section over the band makes sure every section is wrapped securely and curls evenly, including the inner layers.
- Start with dry or slightly misted hair, fully detangled with the Cozy Smoothing Brush.
- Place your CurlBand™ (Long size) over the top of your head and clip the middle at your crown.

- Take a small section, about 1 inch, at the front on one side and cross it over the band.
- Take the next small section from the other side and cross it over the band in the opposite direction.
- Keep alternating left and right, crossing each new section over the band as you work down its length, so every section is secured on its own.
- When you reach the ends, wrap them smoothly around the band and secure them with a scrunchie.
- Sleep, and unwrap in the morning once every section feels dry.

3. Add light hold
A light mousse or setting spray gives thick hair grip without weight.
4. Give it a full night
Unwrap only when every section feels dry.

Curls last all day, and many customers say they relax into soft waves over the next few days.
